By Shaheer Malik · Clay's prices checked on its own site on 3 November 2026
Quick answer: Clay publishes no prices. Its FAQ describes a blended rate and three engagement models, time and materials, fixed fee or retainer, with a proposal after discovery calls. Its Clutch profile, read on 3 November 2026, lists a minimum project of $50,000+ and $150 to $199 an hour. My sprints are fixed and published: $700 for a landing page, $1,999 for a website, $2,500 a month for ongoing design and build. Clay fits enterprise brands that want an integrated agency with offices in six cities.

What a year costs
A brand refresh and a new website, using what each side publishes (3 November 2026):
| Clay | Me | |
|---|---|---|
| Brand and website project | From $50,000 (Clutch minimum project size) | Website $1,999 fixed, plus a fixed quote for the brand identity |
| Twelve months of ongoing design | Retainer at a blended rate, on request | $30,000 a year ($2,500 x 12), pause or cancel any month |
Before tax. Clay's minimum and rate are what Clutch publishes for it; its own site gives no figures, so ask it for a proposal.
When Clay is the better choice
- You are an enterprise brand and want branding, product, web and content from one agency with offices in the US and Europe
- You need an in-house content studio: copy, illustration, 3D, video and photography in the same engagement
- Procurement needs an agency with Meta, Google and Stripe references
- Your budget starts at $50,000 and you expect a discovery phase before a price
When I am the better choice
- You want the price before the call: $700, $1,999 or $2,500 a month
- You want one senior person who designs and builds, and hands over the code and files
- You want to launch in days, not after a discovery and proposal cycle
- You are a startup and a $50,000 minimum would be the whole budget
Subscription, project or sprint: which fits your work
| Your work looks like | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A steady queue of requests that never really ends | A monthly plan | You pay for capacity, and the queue keeps it busy |
| One defined piece of work: a site, an app, a redesign | A fixed sprint or project | A monthly fee pays for the calendar, not the result |
| A large programme with research, copy and many stakeholders | An agency project | More people and process, with a budget to match |
| Not sure yet what to build | A short paid discovery first | Any price before the scope is clear is a guess |
Questions to ask before you sign with anyone
- Who exactly will design and build it, and will I speak to them directly?
- Is the price fixed, a starting point, or a monthly fee with no end date?
- What happens to the price if the work takes longer than planned?
- What do I own at the end: the design files, the code, the CMS, the domain?
- Which platform will it be built on, and can my team edit it without you?
- How are new requests and changes to scope priced?
Switching from Clay partway through
If you are already working with Clay and want to move, the handover is simpler than it sounds:
- Ask for the design files, and make sure the site or app is in an account you own
- Keep your domain and DNS in your own name, so nothing depends on a supplier's login
- List the open requests and anything half-finished, with links
- Send me that list: you get a fixed quote for the remaining work within 24 hours
What I sell instead, at fixed prices
Every price is published and agreed in writing before work starts:
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| Landing page in 5 days | $700 |
| Custom website in 14 days | $1,999 |
| Product design in 14 days (design only) | $1,999 |
| Web app in 21 days | from $1,999 |
| SaaS MVP in 30 days | from $2,500 |
| UX audit in 3 days | $499 |
| Monthly partnership | $2,500 a month, pause or cancel monthly |
How a project runs, from the first message to launch, is on how it works. Whether a subscription or a fixed price suits you better is covered in design subscription vs fixed price.
