When DesignMe is the better choice
- You want two requests in progress at once, one in design and one in build
- You need Astro or a headless CMS such as Sanity
- You want a team with a dedicated project manager and specialists for brand, product and web
- You need SEO, AEO or CRO run as a monthly programme alongside the design
When I am the better choice
- You want published fixed prices: $1,999 for a website, $700 for a landing page, $499 for a UX audit
- You want one person who designs and builds, with no handover in between
- Your budget for ongoing work is $2,500 a month rather than $6,000 to $10,000
Subscription, project or sprint: which fits your work
| Your work looks like | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A steady queue of requests that never really ends | A monthly plan | You pay for capacity, and the queue keeps it busy |
| One defined piece of work: a site, an app, a redesign | A fixed sprint or project | A monthly fee pays for the calendar, not the result |
| A large programme with research, copy and many stakeholders | An agency project | More people and process, with a budget to match |
| Not sure yet what to build | A short paid discovery first | Any price before the scope is clear is a guess |
Questions to ask before you sign with anyone
- Who exactly will design and build it, and will I speak to them directly?
- Is the price fixed, a starting point, or a monthly fee with no end date?
- What happens to the price if the work takes longer than planned?
- What do I own at the end: the design files, the code, the CMS, the domain?
- Which platform will it be built on, and can my team edit it without you?
- How are new requests and changes to scope priced?
Switching from DesignMe partway through
If you are already working with DesignMe and want to move, the handover is simpler than it sounds:
- Ask for the design files, and make sure the site or app is in an account you own
- Keep your domain and DNS in your own name, so nothing depends on a supplier's login
- List the open requests and anything half-finished, with links
- Send me that list: you get a fixed quote for the remaining work within 24 hours
What I sell instead, at fixed prices
Every price is published and agreed in writing before work starts:
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| Landing page in 5 days | $700 |
| Custom website in 14 days | $1,999 |
| Product design in 14 days (design only) | $1,999 |
| Web app in 21 days | from $1,999 |
| SaaS MVP in 30 days | from $2,500 |
| UX audit in 3 days | $499 |
| Monthly partnership | $2,500 a month, pause or cancel monthly |
How a project runs, from the first message to launch, is on how it works. Whether a subscription or a fixed price suits you better is covered in design subscription vs fixed price.
