Designer and developer. I design and build these projects myself.
You need one when the same button, form or card looks different from screen to screen, and every new screen is designed from scratch. For a new product, I design the system together with the screens on a 14-day sprint for $1,999. Retrofitting a system across a large, mature product is a separate, scoped project.
Signs you need one
- Five shades of the same blue in the code
- Developers asking which version of a component is right
- Every new screen taking days of design
- Accessibility fixes having to be made screen by screen
What it includes
Tokens (colour, type, spacing), a component library with every state (hover, disabled, error, loading), and written decisions about when to use what. Built well, developers and AI coding agents can build new screens from it without a designer in every step.
How to start with an inconsistent product
Inventory what exists, pick one version of each component, build those properly, and replace screen by screen while shipping. A big-bang redesign usually stalls.
- New product
- $1,999 in 14 days, with the screens
- Large existing product
- Scoped and quoted
When this is not the right fit
If you have ten screens and one designer, a small shared component file is enough; a full system is overhead until the team grows.
