Quick answer: Hire me as a motion designer for websites and products: scroll and hover effects, Rive and Lottie animation and interface transitions, designed and built in. Motion on a new site is part of the $1,999 Framer or website sprint; larger motion scopes are a fixed quote within 24 hours, and ongoing work fits the $2,500 monthly partnership.
Who this is for, and who it is not
This page is for hiring a motion designer for a defined piece of work. It is not a job listing.
- Sites that feel static. Motion that guides the eye to the point of each section.
- Products whose interactions feel abrupt. Transitions and feedback that make state changes clear.
- Teams with After Effects work that never shipped. Rebuilt as Lottie or Rive so it runs on the live site.
It is the wrong buy in these cases:
- Video production and editing. Filmed or edited video is a different craft.
- Motion for its own sake. If it does not explain anything, it slows the page down.
- Broadcast or 3D animation. Specialist studios are built for that.
What motion work covers
- Scroll and hover effects on websites, built in Framer or code.
- Rive animation: interactive files with states that respond to input.
- Lottie animation: lightweight vector animation exported from design tools.
- Interface transitions: page changes, loading and feedback inside products.
- Reduced-motion versions for people who turn animation off.
The full service is on motion design. The tool choices are compared in Rive vs Lottie and GSAP vs Framer Motion.
What hiring a motion designer costs
| Route | Typical price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Motion libraries | GSAP and Motion (formerly Framer Motion) are free; Rive's runtimes are open source with no royalties | Motion design, checked 29 October 2026 |
| Motion on a new site | Included in the $1,999 Framer or website sprint | Published prices |
| Larger or ongoing motion | A fixed quote within 24 hours, or $2,500 a month | How it works |
Contra's motion designer guide gave no freelance rate when I checked on 30 October 2026, so no market rate is quoted here.
How to vet any motion designer
Whoever you hire, check these before you sign:
- Motion in shipped products. Ask for live sites and apps, not only showreels.
- Performance. Animations that keep pages fast on a phone, using transforms and opacity.
- Reduced motion. A plan for people who switch animation off.
- Purpose. Every animation should explain or confirm something.
- Handover. Source files and a way for your team to change or remove motion.
Motion and accessibility
WCAG 2.1 asks that moving content can be paused, stopped or hidden (2.2.2) and that nothing flashes more than three times a second (2.3.1); respecting the visitor's reduced-motion setting is good practice on top. Motion that ignores those makes a site harder to use, however good it looks.
Rive, Lottie or code?
Rive suits interactive animation with states, such as a button or character that responds to input. Lottie suits illustrative vector animation exported from design tools. Code suits interface transitions and scroll effects. On Framer sites, Rive and Lottie both have Marketplace plugins; see Rive and Framer and Lottie and Framer.
About me
I am a product designer and developer based in Dubai, working with teams in US, EU and GCC time zones. I spoke at GITEX Dubai 2023, and I hold Contra's Framer Expert badge. The work is in the case studies, and every role you can hire me for is on hire me. Outside prices on this page were checked on 29 October 2026 unless the table says otherwise.
Motion designer questions
How much does a motion designer cost?
Motion on a new site is part of my $1,999 Framer or website sprint. Larger motion scopes are a fixed quote within 24 hours, and ongoing work fits the $2,500 monthly partnership.
Do you make videos?
No. I design motion for websites and products: scroll and hover effects, Rive and Lottie animation and interface transitions.
Will animation slow the site down?
Not when it is built well: transforms and opacity, sized images and lazy loading keep motion fast on a phone.
Can you use our After Effects animations?
Often, by exporting them as Lottie, or rebuilding them in Rive when they need to respond to input.
