Quick answer: Keystatic is a content editor for coded sites that stores content as files in your repository, typically with frameworks such as Astro or Next.js. It does not plug into Framer. If you want a visual builder, use Framer's built-in CMS; if you want content in Git, build in code.
How to connect Keystatic to Framer
- Decide whether the team wants visual editing or content in Git
- For visual editing, use Framer and its CMS
- For content in Git, build the site in a framework and add Keystatic
Good to know
- Content in Git suits developer-led sites
- Framer's CMS suits marketing teams that edit visually
Framer's CMS or an outside one?
| Where content lives | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Framer's built-in CMS | Marketing sites a team edits visually | Plan limits: Pro held 10 collections and 2,500 items on 29 October 2026, with add-ons for more |
| Synced into Framer by a plugin | Content already managed in another tool | Two places to keep in step, and a third-party plugin to rely on |
| A headless CMS with a coded front end | Content feeding several sites or apps | A developer builds and maintains the front end |
