Quick answer: Customer.io connects to a Framer site in two parts: its JavaScript snippet goes in Framer's Custom Code section to track visitors, and form submissions reach it through a webhook, directly or via an automation tool. I did not find a Customer.io article in Framer's help centre.
How to connect Customer.io to Framer
- Copy Customer.io's JavaScript snippet and add it in Framer's Custom Code section
- For sign-ups, set the form's destination to a webhook
- Point the webhook at Customer.io or at an automation tool that adds the person
- Publish and test with a real submission
Good to know
- Framer sends form data as JSON in an HTTP POST
- Check consent before identifying visitors
How custom code works in Framer
Framer's Custom Code section, in Site Settings, is where tracking scripts and chat widgets go. Framer's help lists analytics and marketing tags, chat and support widgets, small CSS and JavaScript tweaks, and structured data as its uses. For each snippet you choose:
- Placement: the start or end of the head, or the start or end of the body
- Pages: every page, or only the pages you select, including CMS pages
- When it runs: once, or on every page visit
What Framer sends to a webhook
When a form's destination is a webhook, Framer sends the submission straight away as JSON in an HTTP POST request to the URL you enter, which must start with https://. Framer's help names four common uses: sending submissions to your own server, connecting third-party services, triggering automation tools such as Zapier, and saving form data to a database. Hidden fields can carry tracking details, such as the campaign a visitor came from, along with the answers.
