Quick answer: After Effects does not connect to Framer directly. Export the animation as a Lottie file and place it with the LottieFiles plugin, or render it as a video and add it to the canvas. Simple motion is often better rebuilt with Framer's built-in animations.
How to connect After Effects to Framer
- Decide the format: Lottie for vector motion, video for footage and effects
- For Lottie, export the composition to Lottie JSON and insert it with the LottieFiles plugin
- For video, render a compressed file and add it to the page
- Check load time and motion on a phone
Good to know
- Not every After Effects feature survives a Lottie export
- Respect reduced-motion settings for decorative animation
Keep media fast and accessible
- Check file size and loading on a phone before publishing
- Respect the visitor's reduced-motion setting for decorative animation
- Add captions to videos with speech, which WCAG 2.1 requires at Level A
- Never put the only copy of important text inside an animation or video
